THIEVES were stopped from siphoning cash from a charity by using the bank details the good cause had provided for would-be donors. The culprits then set up standing orders payable in to their accounts.
Fortunately Sign, the National Society for Mental Health and Deafness, spotted the bogus orders and stopped payment before hundreds of pounds was lost. And now the Charity Commission is urging good causes to use deposit-only accounts to foil thieves.See the full content of this document
