IAN POULTER was nearly arrested for a crime other than his fashion sense after sneaking his first late-night look at Turnberry.

The Ryder Cup star (left), who finished runner-up at Royal Birkdale last year, said: "I had never seen the course before so I turned up at 10pm Sunday and had a little look at the 18th green. The security guards came out and said: 'What are you doing? Get off'.
