HEALTH Secretary Andy Burnham yesterday shelved plans to introduce an organ donation opt-out system - saying it was not yet necessary to take such a radical measure.
Gordon Brown has backed a "presumed consent" system where doctors are allowed to take organs after a patient's death unless they have signed a declaration forbidding transplants.
