DOWN officials are confident some of their absent hurlers will return to the fold ahead of the league game with Wexford on Sunday week. Five Mourne players - Martin Coulter, Simon Wilson, Stephen Clarke, Darren Flynn and veteran Gary Savage who announced his retirement - all withdrew their services earlier this week, while Gareth 'Magic' Johnson has gone to Chicago.

Manager John Crossey held showdown talks with his entire panel in Downpatrick on Wednesday night with his backroom staff and senior county board officials also present.
